The GIMP GameDev Helpers

Ed eccoci qua, con un nuovo plugin (anzi due), questa volta per The GIMP.

Per chi non lo conoscesse (anche se dubito fortemente che ad oggi ancora qualcuno non lo conosca), The GIMP è, insieme a Blender e InkScape, una delle punte del tridente opensource relativo al comparto grafico. Si tratta di un programma di grafica raster, di fotoritocco, estremamente potente, versatile e scriptabile.

Ed infatti proprio di script stiamo parlando.

The GIMP GameDev Helpers, infatti, è una collezione di script ideata per aiutare gli sviluppatori di videogiochi. Al momento sono presenti due script, ma non è detto che la collezione non aumenti presto (se avete qualche idea vi invito a commentare qui sotto così che possa valutare se sia fattibile e, soprattutto, se io sia capace ad accontentarvi ;) )

Nella collezione troviamo:

- Pixel Artist : un plugin che applica diversi filtri ed opera diversi processi per tentare di trasformare (meglio che può) una immagine (o sequenza di immagini) in pixel art

- Spritesheeter : un plugin che estrae tutti i layer di una sequenza e li impagina in modo da costruire uno spritesheet ordinato.

Tra i file da scaricare troverete anche due PDF contenenti le istruzioni per installare i plugin e per l'utilizzo degli stessi, con qualche esempio per meglio comprendere i vari parametri.

I plugin in questione sono degli Script-Fu che, per chi non lo sapesse, sono dei semplici file di testo (in linguaggio Scheme), liberamente leggibili con qualsiasi editor di testo (compreso il blocco note) e pertanto totalmente immuni da virus (inoltre, qualora foste particolarmente malfidati, potete anche verificarne il contenuto per accertarvi che non vi sia codice malevolo).

Rilascio questi plugin con licenza GPL v2, quindi potete tranquillamente ridistribuirli (con la stessa licenza) ma, ovviamente, non venderli. Vi chiedo gentilmente, se doveste modificarli, migliorarli o fixarli, di comunicarmelo, in modo che possa condividere o segnalare le vostre modifiche ad altri.

Ovviamente potete utilizzare i plugin per scopi commerciali e non, e non mi dovrete alcuna attribuzione.

Quindi scaricateli, utilizzateli e divertitevi.

And here we are, with a new plugin (actually two), this time for The GIMP.

For those who do not know it (although I strongly doubt that to date anyone still does not know it), The GIMP is, together with Blender and InkScape, one of the tips of the opensource trident relating to the graphics sector. It is an extremely powerful, versatile and scriptable raster graphics, photo editing program.

And in fact we are talking about scripts.

The GIMP GameDev Helpers, in fact, is a collection of scripts designed to help video game developers. At the moment there are two scripts, but it is not certain that the collection will not increase soon (if you have any ideas I invite you to comment below so that I can evaluate if it is feasible and, above all, if I am able to satisfy you ;) )
In the collection we find:

- Pixel Artist: a plugin that applies different filters and operates different processes to try to transform (as best it can) an image (or sequence of images) into pixel art

- Spritesheeter: a plugin that extracts all the layers of a sequence and paginates them in order to build an ordered spritesheet.

I release these plugins under the GPL v2 license, so you can safely redistribute them (under the same license) but, of course, don't sell them. I kindly ask you, if you need to modify, improve or fix them, to let me know, so that I can share or report your changes to others.

Of course you can use the plugins for commercial and non-commercial purposes, and you will not owe me any attribution.
